Congratulations to Thanh Son Phung on Passing His Doctoral Defense
This month we are delighted to congratulate Thanh Son Phung on successfully defending his Ph.D. dissertation. Thanh has been part of our group since 2020.
Thanh’s research sits at the intersection of distributed systems and large-scale scientific computing. He focused on software that helps researchers decompose massive computational problems into many smaller tasks and run them in parallel efficiently—turning runs that might otherwise take weeks or days into hours or minutes. Along the way he collaborated with scientists across several areas, including molecular chemistry, particle physics, and artificial intelligence, to make their computations faster and more practical on modern clusters.
We are proud of this milestone and grateful for Thanh’s contributions to the lab. Well done, Thanh—and best wishes for what comes next.
